| Cheyenne Cañon Ale Wins Silver at GABF
September 28, 2009 – Colorado Springs – Bristol Brewing Company's Cheyenne Cañon Ale, one of Bristol's Community Ales, won a silver medal this past weekend at Denver's 28th annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF), the brewing industry's premier national event. Cheyenne Cañon Ale, a brown ale with pinon nuts, won the medal in the Brown Ales category. It is the first GABF medal for the beer; the 11th for Bristol.
John Schneider, one of Bristol's brewers, formulated the winning recipe. "This is a beer that I'm very proud of, not only because it's an award-winning beer and our customers enjoy it, but also because it's making a difference for Cheyenne Cañon," he said.
Because Cheyenne Cañon Ale is part of Bristol's Community Ales series, 100% of the profits from the sale of the beer go directly to the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon.
Each fall, the GABF brings together breweries from all over the nation to celebrate the best beers produced in the American beer industry. The three-day event includes four public tasting sessions and the country’s most prestigious beer competition, where the beers are judged in a blind tasting by brewers, beer writers and industry experts from around the world. This year, 3,308 beers were judged in 78 categories.
